Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has denied being a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Lagos State Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Her denial came after her name was included in the campaign council’s Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate, which was unveiled by the Kadri Obafemi Hamzat Media Centre on Thursday, September 17.
Reacting in an Instagram Story on Thursday, Abraham said she was not a member of any campaign council and asked the public to disregard reports suggesting otherwise.
“I’m not a member of any campaign council. I have said it recently. I am staying out of politics. Please disregard the supposed inclusion of my name in any campaign committee,” she wrote.
The APC list had placed Abraham alongside several other prominent entertainers, including veteran actor Jide Kosoko, Eniola Badmus, Bimbo Akintola, Adebayo Salami, Saheed Balogun and Bukky Wright, as well as Fuji musicians Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, Abass Akande Obesere and Adewale Ayuba.
According to the published structure, Toke Benson-Awoyinka was named Director of the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate, while Kosoko was listed as Co-Director and Badmus as Deputy Director.
The campaign council was scheduled for formal inauguration on Friday, September 18, at the APC Secretariat on ACME Road, Ikeja.
Abraham’s statement makes clear that, despite her name appearing on the published list, she says she has not accepted membership of the campaign council and intends to stay out of politics.
