Today in Abuja, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, the President of the Ugwumba Center for Leadership Development in Africa announced that the center will partner with the National Intellectual Property Rights Office of the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investments in organizing the World Intellectual Property Day, Nigeria scheduled for the 26th of April, 2022.
This
was the outcome of the partnership meeting the center held today with the
leadership of the National Intellectual Property Rights Office led by their
Chief Registrar, Bar. Mrs. Stella Ezenduka on a courtesy call.
The
President of the centre, Uche Nwosu used the opportunity to thank the Chief
Registrar for finding the Center as a worthy partner and expressed his
gratitude to the Hon. Minister of the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and
Investments, His Excellency, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo for always being part of
the programs of the Center.
As
the Director of the Commercial Law Department of the Federal Ministry of
Industry, Trade and Investments, in whose office is domiciled the National
Patents and Design Registry, Mrs. Ezenduka said, they identified the Ugwumba
Leadership Center as an important stakeholder that encourages youths to venture
into productive enterprises that would in the long run generate series of
intellectual property creations, which shall become subjects of patents and
designs protection.
According
to her, “your strategic role in the ecosystem has necessitated our call for
partnership with your organization in order to sensitize the youths and
entrepreneurs across the country on the importance of intellectual property
rights protection as a key to economic growth. We are therefore inviting your
organization to partner with us in organizing this year’s World Intellectual
Property Day, which is an annual event promoted by the World Intellectual
Property Organization to celebrate inventors, innovators and creators, globally.”
Also
speaking, the Executive Director of the Center, Mr. Remy Chukwunyere said that
the theme of the year’s WIPD celebration, IP and Youths: Innovating a Better
Future is apt as the center has a community of over 10,000 startup founders and
entrepreneurs, whose innovations need to be protected against infringement.
Other
members of the delegation included: Bar. (Mrs.) Jane Igwe, Assistant Chief
Registrar in charge of Designs and Bar. Eno-Obong Usen, Principal Assistant

To
God be the glory!
