Francis Atela. |
Francis raised the issue and mentioned how a few people came to ask him to join cults as a reaction to Tunde Ednuts post on Punch Newspapers story of Chibuzor Nelson Azubuike, aka, Phyno's experiences during the beginning of his career where he stated that "he was advised to join cult or engage in rituals if he wanted quick fame and success in his music career"
And in his response, the "Nigerian Idol" star said, "If your belief of "making it" has to involve soiling your soul in some way for financial gain or game, then there is a real big problem...as there's more to life than just fortune and fame".
In another response, Francis wrote, "If I had a penny for how many times I've been told to join cult?...one egbon wanted to groom me all in the name of he will help me to blow, me like this? Sounds funny now but it wasn't so funny. Abeg, I rather do my music slow slow, when God's time comes for my voice to be heard, it will be heard".
End of quote.
Francis Atela came second in the Nigerian Idol show that saw Kingdom winning against him, whom the audience had anticipated to win.
Francis started music professionally when he was signed to a record label, Squeeze Records. Since then, Atela has released many songs like Kukere, Sweet Love, Ojuju Calabar and a radio famous, Jankara. He’s performed at various events, including One Africa Fest 2017.
This isn’t Atela’s first time at Nigerian Idol; he has auditioned twice! First in 2011 in Abuja, then in 2015 in Lagos. But like they say, the third time’s the charm. This win came at an excellent time for him because he told Netng that he had been hoping for a chance to be on Nigerian Idol for a long time.
