FULL LIST: 67 Ambassadorial Nominees Approved By Senate.

The list.

The Senate has confirmed 67 nominees as career and non-career ambassadors of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, approving a list made up of senior diplomats, former governors, ex-ministers and other notable political figures.

The confirmation followed the consideration and adoption of a report by the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, chaired by Senator Sani Bello (APC, Niger North), after weeks of screening of nominees forwarded by the Presidency.

While presenting the report, Bello informed lawmakers that all nominees who appeared before the committee were properly screened and found fit for their respective diplomatic assignments. He added that no petitions or negative security reports were submitted against any of the nominees during the exercise.

“The committee thoroughly assessed the qualifications, experience and competence of all nominees and is satisfied that they are capable of representing Nigeria effectively in their proposed postings,” Bello said.

He noted that the nominee from Yobe State, who failed to appear before the committee for screening, was excluded from the final list approved by the Senate.

Meanwhile, Lateef Kayode Kolawole Are from Ogun State, Aminu Muhammad Dalhatu from Jigawa State, and Emmanuel Ayodele Oke, CFR, from Oyo State had been screened earlier.

Below is the full list of the 67 ambassadorial nominees confirmed by the Senate.
