The National Youth Service Corps has announced that the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream I Orientation Course will begin across the country on Wednesday, 21 January, in all 37 NYSC Orientation Camps nationwide.
In a statement shared on the NYSC official X handle on Tuesday, the scheme stated that “Camp Registration for all Corps Members will take place from Wednesday, 21st to midnight of Friday 23rd, January, 2026.
“The Swearing-in Ceremony holds on Friday, 23rd January, 2026, while the Closing Ceremony will take place on Tuesday, 10th February, 2026.”
The Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, extended his best wishes to all prospective corps members, urging them to travel safely to their states of deployment. He also advised them to avoid night journeys while travelling.
The management further appealed to corps members to strictly follow the outlined orientation timetable to ensure a smooth and well-organised exercise.
The NYSC scheme, which was created in 1973 to strengthen national unity and integration after the Nigerian Civil War, includes the three-week orientation camp as its introductory phase.
During the programme, corps members take part in paramilitary drills, entrepreneurship and skills training under the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development initiative, lectures on national issues, as well as cultural and social activities.
The scheme is designed to promote interaction and understanding among citizens from different ethnic and religious backgrounds.
