Popular Nigerian Gospel Singer Passes Away.

Popular Nigerian gospel singer, Bunmi Akinnanu, best known for her hit song “Omije Ojumi,” has passed away.

The news of her death was confirmed on Tuesday evening by a source close to the singer.

At the time of this report, no official statement has been released by her family, with further details expected to be communicated later.

Her death comes months after she publicly called for prayers and divine healing while battling a serious leg ailment.

In late 2025, a video of Akinnanu emerged online during a church service at G.F. David Ministries in Ibadan, Oyo State. In the footage, she was seen seated with her leg stretched forward as prayers were offered for her recovery. The video raised widespread concern after revealing the severity of her condition.

During the service, the cleric leading the prayers disclosed that the singer had been experiencing persistent bleeding from her leg, prompting intense intercessory prayers.

The clip quickly went viral, drawing massive support from fans and well-wishers nationwide, many of whom organised prayer sessions and shared messages of encouragement across social media platforms.

The exact medical details of her illness were never officially disclosed.

Bunmi Akinnanu began her musical journey at the age of 10 and later resigned from a banking career to fully pursue gospel music.

She gained national recognition with “Omije Ojumi,” a song that deeply resonated with listeners, and went on to release several other gospel tracks that established her as a respected and influential voice in the gospel music industry.
