Gov. Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has formally defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Rufus Bature, who serves as the APC Chairman in the state, handed the party’s membership card to the Governor on Friday in Jos.
While addressing attendees at the ceremony, Mutfwang explained that his decision to move to the APC was taken in the overall interest of Plateau State.
The Governor assured that, despite his change of party, his administration would continue to operate an inclusive style of governance, urging residents of the state to remain united at all times.
He stated that “The journey we are embarking on is a journey of faith, and I believe that Plateau will reap the dividends of this union.”
Mutfwang added that although “I know there are skeptics, but I say be patient. Time will reveal everything.”
He further reassured those expressing concerns, saying “To the fearful, I say take courage, fear no more, because we have come for good.”
He maintained that “We have come to join hands; we have come to work together. For those who may be apprehensive, like I said earlier, relax.”
The Governor expressed appreciation to members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, his former political platform, acknowledging their support throughout his political journey.
He explained that his move to the APC would further motivate him to deliver quality leadership to the people of Plateau State.
Mutfwang also expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for what he described as his significant support and affection for Plateau, pledging to back his re-election effort in 2027.
