South-South ADC Leaders Reject Claims Of Amaechi Endorsement.

The South-South leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed claims that its national and regional leaders endorsed former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi for the 2027 presidential election.

The meeting in question took place on February 27 at the residence of Chief John Odigie-Oyegun in Benin and included party elders, state representatives, and senior stakeholders from Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo, and Rivers States.

The gathering was intended to strengthen party unity, improve grassroots mobilisation, and prepare for future elections.

According to the South-South Zonal Publicity Secretary, Mabel Oboh, the meeting was a consultation session where Amaechi informed leaders of his intention to seek the party’s presidential ticket.

She clarified that consultation does not equal endorsement.

No vote, resolution, or consensus was made during the meeting to back any candidate.

Oboh stressed that such reports are misleading and go against the party’s principles of internal democracy.

She noted that Chief Oyegun’s history as a former national chairman demonstrates his respect for constitutional procedures and party discipline.

The ADC leadership also criticized media outlets for spreading the endorsement story without proper verification, warning that misinformation could harm party cohesion and public trust.

The South-South bloc affirmed that its leaders remain united, focused on party growth, and committed to following proper procedures for candidate selection. Any suggestion that Amaechi received endorsement at the meeting is false.

Amaechi reportedly used the session to formally inform regional leaders of his presidential ambitions for next year’s election.
