Adesua Asked Me To Be Her Husband - Banky W.

Nigerian singer and actor Banky W has opened up about his relationship journey with his wife, Adesua Etomi-Wellington, revealing how what began with rejection eventually turned into marriage built on faith, friendship, and persistence.

Speaking during a recent episode of the The Teju Babyface Show, Banky W recalled that there was a time he was fully convinced Adesua was the one for him, even though she was not initially on the same page.

He explained that after several attempts that didn’t work out, he stepped back emotionally. “I was like, I’m not talking to her again,” he said, describing it as a moment of emotional frustration. He added that he went through a period of reflection, saying, “Maybe because of all the hearts I’ve broken, God has now sent somebody to break my heart.”

However, he said he later chose not to lose their connection entirely, describing her as “one of the best friendships” he had ever experienced. Instead of cutting ties completely, he decided to maintain a friendship, which he said brought them even closer.

At that point, he said he turned to prayer. “I went to God and said, ‘I feel like this is my wife but she just can’t see it. If you want us together, go and tell her,’” he recalled.

He added that he made a personal vow: if she didn’t come to that conclusion herself, he would not bring it up again.

According to him, things changed after what he described as multiple confirmations in her own life. The turning point came during a phone call when Adesua Etomi-Wellington reportedly said to him, “Banky, you know you’re my husband, right?”

His response, he said, was calm: “I’ve known for a year and a half. I’ve just been waiting for you to catch up.”

Banky W noted that he was not surprised by her statement, attributing his composure to his faith and belief in timing. “The more you spend time with God and build faith, the more you just know,” he said.
