A Nigerian correctional officer, Ayodele Abiodun Afosi, has been arrested in Texas, United States, after allegedly leaving the scene of a car accident he was involved in.
Afosi, who serves with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) as a correctional officer at the Wynne Unit, a men’s prison in Huntsville, Texas, was taken into custody on Monday, May 11, 2026.
Authorities said he was charged with failure to stop and provide information after a vehicle accident that reportedly caused damages exceeding $200.
Following his arrest, he was remanded at the Walker County Jail, with bail set at $3,000.
