Governor of Charles Soludo has revealed plans to ban midweek burials in Anambra State as part of efforts to improve productivity and reduce disruptions caused by frequent funeral activities.
Speaking during a recent event, the governor lamented how burial ceremonies now dominate weekdays across the state.
“And by the special grace of God that is now over. I will be on the street from Monday to Saturday. Tuesday, burial, Wednesday, burial, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, burial,” Soludo said.
The governor noted that the increasing number of lavish and prolonged burials has turned into a major social concern, adding that new measures would be introduced to regulate the trend.
