Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Community Engagement in the Northwest, Abdullahi Yakasai, has defended the policies of the Tinubu administration, insisting that government interventions are already easing hardship across the country.
Speaking during an interview on Arise TV on Wednesday, Yakasai said the president distributed “20 trucks of rice across the 36 states of the federation” to support Nigerians struggling with the economy.
According to him, “The federal government also released “20 trucks” of fertilizer to state governments to support farmers, while Kano State received an additional 20 trucks of fertilizer to reduce farming costs and improve food production”.
Yakasai claimed the interventions have contributed to a reduction in food prices, saying, “The prices of food have really crashed down.”
He also described the student loan scheme as “a game changer,” adding that students can now remain in tertiary institutions despite financial challenges.
On healthcare, he said “The government has reduced dialysis costs in teaching hospitals by about 75 percent and recently recruited primary healthcare workers across local governments nationwide”.
Speaking on security, Yakasai praised security agencies for rescuing over 11,000 k+dn@pped persons and improving safety along the Abuja-Kaduna road, noting that people can now “travel by night” on the route.
