Senator Seriake Dickson, representing Bayelsa West in the Senate, is reportedly preparing to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Sources close to the former governor say he is considering the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as his potential new political home.
Known for his outspoken criticism of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Senate, Dickson is said to have quietly developed strong ties with the ADC.
Those familiar with the situation report that he has backed the appointment of certain politicians to key ADC roles, reflecting sustained contact with the party.
Political insiders believe uncertainty over securing the PDP nomination for his next Senate term is pushing him toward the ADC, where he may face fewer internal challenges.
They add that Dickson has the influence, resources, and political machinery to win in his senatorial district regardless of party.
Nevertheless, some politicians in Bayelsa feel the ADC lacks wide support in the state.
They argue that while Dickson can win on his personal popularity, he would have limited impact on other districts if he leaves the PDP.
The senator has yet to make a formal announcement, leaving his final decision unclear.
