The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has increased the spending limits for all elective offices ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Presidential candidates can now spend up to N10 billion, double the previous cap of N5 billion, allowing more resources for nationwide campaigns.
Governorship hopefuls are allowed a maximum of N3 billion, while Senate candidates can spend up to N1 billion.
House of Representatives candidates have a limit of N250 million, and House of Assembly contestants can now spend up to N100 million.
Local government elections have also been affected. Area council candidates can spend as much as N60 million, while councillorship candidates have a cap of N10 million.
INEC said the revised limits aim to reflect the cost of campaigning in today’s political environment and ensure that candidates have adequate resources to reach voters effectively.
