The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has condemned the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) over the recent passage of the Electoral Act Amendment Bill by the National Assembly.
The party described the move as a threat to Nigeria’s democratic principles.
ADC’s spokesperson stated that the actions of the APC show a troubling disregard for democratic norms.
He pointed out that even though the party controls most state governors, it still seems hesitant to allow free and fair elections.
The ADC warned that such behavior could endanger the country’s democratic process and called on Nigerians to remain vigilant against attempts to impose unfair control over the electoral system.
The statement suggested that history has shown Nigerians will not accept tyranny, and that attempts to manipulate elections are likely to face resistance from citizens determined to protect their voting rights.
