FRSC Sacks 43 Officers Over Misconduct.

The Federal Road Safety Corps has removed 43 of its officers from service over cases linked to desertion and other forms of misconduct.

The action was made public on Thursday in a statement released by the Corps Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide. According to the statement, 31 officers were dismissed for abandoning their duty posts. 

Five others were disengaged over scandalous behaviour, while seven were removed for misconduct during patrol operations.

The Corps said the decision followed internal disciplinary processes and investigations into the actions of the affected personnel. 

It stated that the organisation would not allow any behaviour that goes against its rules and professional standards.

Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, described the move as part of ongoing efforts to maintain discipline within the agency.

He explained that abandoning duty is a serious offence, especially in an agency responsible for road safety across the country. 

According to him, officers are expected to remain committed to their responsibilities at all times, given the sensitive nature of their work.

He also noted that improper behaviour and misconduct during patrol can reduce public confidence in the Corps.

 He said such actions do not reflect the values of discipline, openness and service that the agency stands for.

The FRSC is a paramilitary body in charge of traffic control and road safety management in Nigeria.

 As part of its structure, it operates a disciplinary system to handle cases involving violation of service rules and other actions that may affect its duties.
