A tragic incident unfolded in Umuihi Village, Umuahia, Abia State, where a 38-year-old Nigeria Immigration Service officer, Chidiebere James, reportedly lost his life during a domestic argument with his wife.
Eyewitnesses said the conflict escalated inside their home, and during the altercation, James was allegedly stabbed with a pair of scissors.
Neighbours and local youths rushed to the house after hearing the commotion, only to find James lying lifeless with the weapon nearby.
He was quickly taken to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead on the way.
Residents indicated that the couple had a history of frequent arguments, and tensions in their home had often flared before.
Reports also claimed that the wife tried to leave the scene with their children, but a crowd of local youths stopped her, with some reportedly attempting to confront her before she was taken to safety.
James is survived by his two daughters.
The Abia State Police Command has yet to provide an official statement on the incident, and investigations into the circumstances that led to the tragedy are ongoing.
