The Kano State Censorship Board has ordered all entertainment centres in the state to close ahead of the Ramadan fasting period.
This includes event centres, commonly called gala houses, and Disc Jockey (DJ) operators.
The board said the suspension will start at 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 18, and will last until the end of Ramadan.
The decision aims to allow residents to observe the fast and carry out religious practices without disturbance.
Officials said details about when the entertainment centres will reopen, especially around the Eid celebrations, will be shared later.
Operators and stakeholders have been urged to follow the directive, which aligns with the board’s role in regulating entertainment activities in the state.
The board also wished residents a peaceful and healthy Ramadan.
