Labour Party Demands Abure's Arrest.

The Labour Party (LP) has formally asked the Inspector-General of Police, the Department of State Services, and other security agencies to arrest and prosecute its former National Chairman, Julius Abure, for actions described as criminal.

The party’s leadership raised concerns that Abure is still moving freely despite allegedly attacking the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

LP said Abure and his associates threatened the safety of party staff, destroyed properties, and removed items including laptops, financial documents, and other sensitive materials.

The party accused him of contempt of court, impersonation, and acting against Nigeria’s democratic principles.

The National Working Committee, led by Interim National Chairman Nenadi Usman, stated that Abure’s group carried out the operation for more than 30 minutes, taking important records and party assets.

LP said the incident was documented on social media, indirectly confirming the events, while press statements from Abure and his supporters misrepresented the facts and ignored court and regulatory orders.

The party explained that it had formally written to security agencies for lawful enforcement of court judgments and for support in resuming control of the secretariat.

Security agencies reportedly provided coverage for the takeover on February 10, 2026.

LP insisted that the actions of Abure and his allies show disregard for law and order and called for immediate legal action against them.
