The Labour Party has commended the Nigerian Police for quickly handling an incident at its national secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday night.
Suspected attackers who tried to break into the party’s headquarters were arrested and are now helping the police with information that could reveal those behind the attempt.
The party said normal operations at the secretariat have resumed thanks to the timely police response.
The interim leadership led by Senator Nenadi Usman warned that members of the former leadership who may have been involved in the attack will not be allowed to disrupt party activities.
The party stressed that the law clearly supports the current leadership.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has recognized Senator Nenadi Usman as the National Chairman and Senator Darlington Nwokocha as the National Secretary.
The party reminded everyone that Nigeria is governed by laws and that attempts to create chaos under the party’s name will not be tolerated.
Labour Party also called on law enforcement agencies to pursue anyone using the party’s name to mislead or defraud the public.
The leadership said that anyone acting without proper authority, regardless of position, will face consequences.
The Usman-led interim National Working Committee officially took over the party secretariat in Utako, Abuja, on Tuesday, marking a step toward stabilizing the party after a period of internal disputes.
