A heated exchange broke out at the National Assembly after Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, clashed with Senator Ireti Kingibe, representing the Federal Capital Territory, during a meeting on Wednesday.
The disagreement started when the Kogi lawmaker discovered that she was not informed about a planned trip to the United States linked to the Committee on Women Affairs.
The issue quickly turned tense inside the chamber.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, known for speaking her mind on public matters, expressed anger over what she described as her exclusion from the trip.
She questioned why she was not notified alongside other members and insisted that she deserved equal treatment.
In her remarks during the meeting, the Kogi Central senator maintained that she was no longer under suspension and should not be treated differently from other female lawmakers.
She also demanded to know when the Committee on Women Affairs was informed about the Commission on the Status of Women event, suggesting that the communication process was not clear.
She said: "I'm not under suspension, I don't think I should be treated any different from other women, and I had to ask Becky, when exactly was the committee on women affairs informed about this CSW."
Senator Ireti Kingibe later tried to ease the tension.
She spoke about the need for unity and cooperation among colleagues, urging members to maintain good working relationships despite political differences.
