NSCDC Warns Against Post Election Disturbances In FCT.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has warned residents of the Federal Capital Territory against causing unrest as results from the Area Council elections begin to come in.

The FCT Commandant of the NSCDC, Dr Olusola Odumosu, gave the warning on Saturday after visiting several polling units across the councils. He described the election as peaceful and said the process has shown what to expect ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He said voters conducted themselves in an orderly manner and security officers were fully deployed in different parts of the territory. According to him, the calm atmosphere recorded during the exercise was the result of careful planning and cooperation among security agencies.

Odumosu admitted that no election can be completely free from issues, but he said the experience from the council poll will help security agencies review their work and improve before the next nationwide election.

As attention shifts to the announcement of results, the commandant said he does not expect any breakdown of law and order. However, he made it clear that officers under his command are ready to deal with anyone who tries to cause violence or disturb public peace.

He also confirmed that the NSCDC is working closely with the Nigeria Police and the State Security Service to prevent any attempt to disrupt the process or reject the outcome through unlawful means.

He added that security patrols will continue across the territory and that the strong presence of officers is meant to discourage anyone planning to create problems.

The commandant assured residents that security agencies remain alert and prepared as the election process enters its final stage.
