An Arik Air flight from Lagos to Port Harcourt was forced to land in Benin on Wednesday after the crew detected a problem with one of the engines.
The Boeing 737-700, registered as 5N-MJF, experienced a loud bang from the left engine while descending toward Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa.
The aircraft, carrying 80 passengers, was safely diverted to Benin Airport to avoid any risk.
All passengers disembarked without injuries, and the airline has arranged alternative transportation to ensure they reach Port Harcourt.
Arik Air confirmed that the diversion was a precaution to protect the safety of everyone on board.
The airline apologized for the disruption and reassured the public that passenger safety remains its top priority.
