Police Tighten Security In Yola Ahead Of Tinubu Visit.

Security agencies in Adamawa State have increased their presence across the state as preparations intensify for the visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday.

The President is billed to travel to the state to inaugurate major projects completed by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.

The planned visit has led to stronger security arrangements, especially in Yola, the state capital, where most of the activities are expected to take place.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, announced that the Adamawa State Police Command had raised its alert level.

He explained that officers and operational resources had been sent to different parts of the state to prevent any breakdown of law and order before, during and after the President’s stay.

The statement also revealed that the Commissioner of Police, Dankwambo Morris, held a meeting with other security heads and senior officers to review the existing security setup and improve on it where necessary.

The meeting focused on ensuring that all possible risks are addressed ahead of the event.

As part of the arrangements, special police units have been stationed at key locations.

These include the Police Mobile Force, the Counter Terrorism Unit, the Surveillance Squad and the Crowd and Traffic Control Unit.

The teams are expected to carry out monitoring operations while maintaining a strong presence in areas considered sensitive.

Police authorities said officers have been positioned in parts of Yola South and Yola North Local Government Areas to monitor locations that may require closer attention.

The aim is to maintain calm across the city and prevent any disturbance throughout the President’s visit.

The command added that it is collaborating with other security agencies in the state to ensure the programme runs smoothly without any incident.

Surveillance patrols have been intensified to reassure residents and discourage criminal activity.

Traffic control measures have also been introduced.

Movement of vehicles will be restricted around venues where commissioning and other official events will take place.

These restrictions will remain in effect until all scheduled activities are completed.

In addition, anti-bomb teams have been deployed to inspect event centres and surrounding roads to ensure they are safe for guests and residents.

Residents of Adamawa State have been urged to cooperate with security personnel and stay alert. The police encouraged members of the public to report any suspicious movement or unusual activity to the nearest security office.

The visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to attract political leaders, government officials and supporters from different parts of the state. Security agencies say they are determined to ensure that the day passes peacefully and without disruption.
