Nigerian Singer Simisola Kosoko, has reacted to the resurfacing of her old posts about children that drew widespread criticism.
An old post from March 14, 2012, mentioned a four-year-old boy named David and described him showing affection towards Simi.
In the now-deleted tweet, she wrote about the child getting physically close and resting his head near her, while she wondered how to respond to his attention.
The tweet quickly went viral and sparked criticism from some social media users. Many expressed concern over the content and called for closer scrutiny of her past posts.
Simi explained that she was not famous at the time and shared that the tweets reflected her daily life while helping at her mother’s daycare.
She said the posts were meant to describe the mischief and cuteness of children and that nothing in them came from inappropriate intentions.
She also said she had no reason to make excuses but wanted to clarify that her words were being misrepresented online.
The singer acknowledged that the tweets could be interpreted in many ways but insisted they did not come from a place of perversion.
She recalled sharing her life openly on social media, including playful posts about children, while also pursuing her music career.
Several of the tweets, she noted, have since been deleted by her team to protect her family.
