Thugs Disrupt APC Meeting In Akure.

A stakeholders’ meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) turned chaotic on Tuesday after suspected political thugs invaded the party’s secretariat in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

The gathering was held to address internal party matters ahead of the ward, local government and state congresses expected to produce new executives.

The build-up to the congresses has caused tension within the party, with disagreements said to be growing among members.

Trouble started while party leaders, officials and delegates were still meeting at the secretariat.

Witnesses said the attackers suddenly forced their way into the venue and began chasing people around the premises.

Several members were injured during the attack, while many others ran for safety.

Those who came with their cars quickly drove out to avoid damage as panic spread across the area.

Sources said the attackers carried broken bottles, planks, machetes, stones and other dangerous items.

The meeting was brought to an abrupt end as members struggled to escape.

One party executive explained that members had already settled down for discussions before the hoodlums stormed the secretariat.

According to him, many people had to flee immediately to avoid being harmed, and some sustained injuries in the process.

The incident left the party’s secretariat in disarray and raised fresh concerns about the growing crisis within the ruling party in the state.

The Director of Media and Publicity of the APC in Ondo State, Steve Otaloro, confirmed that the attack took place. He said more information would be made available after further checks are completed.
