Tinubu Vows To Fight Terrorism.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has promised faster growth in agriculture and a stronger fight against banditry and terrorism, while assuring states of steady federal funding, improved infrastructure, and wider social support programmes.

The President spoke at the second National Economic Council conference held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

He said the country has reached a point where strong reforms, cooperation among all levels of government, and firm action are needed to move Nigeria beyond recovery into lasting development

Tinubu explained that the current national development plan is designed to move the economy forward in a way that benefits everyone.

He said the goal is to ensure growth that supports food security, job creation, and long-term stability across the country.

On security, the President said insecurity remains a major barrier to economic progress and pledged to strengthen security forces.

He stated that terrorism and banditry do not reflect Nigeria’s values and promised that government efforts would be stepped up to end the threats.

He also spoke on ongoing economic reforms, noting that they are helping to steady the economy, rebuild investor trust, and improve government revenue at the federal, state, and local levels.

According to him, states are receiving more reliable allocations, while the government is investing in roads, power supply, digital services, housing, and irrigation projects.

He added that social investment programmes are being expanded to support vulnerable families, young people, women, and small businesses.

Tinubu said the Renewable Hope National Development Plan will focus on diversifying the economy, building human capacity, encouraging private sector growth, and improving climate response.

He added that the plan will be implemented down to the ward level to ensure direct impact on communities.

At the event, the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, described the council as an important forum for strengthening cooperation within Nigeria’s federal system.

He said recent reforms by the administration have drawn attention from global institutions such as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, which see Nigeria as an example of economic restructuring.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, who chairs the National Economic Council, said economic gains must reflect in better living conditions for citizens.

He stressed that progress depends on cooperation among all tiers of government and alignment with global development goals, adding that clear strategies and coordinated action are needed to build a fair and stable economy.
