UK To Issue Only eVisas From February 25

The United Kingdom has announced that from February 25, 2026, all visitors who need a visa to enter the country will be issued only electronic visas.

The decision was made public on February 13, 2026, by UK Visas and Immigration, the agency responsible for managing visa and immigration matters.

The agency shared the update on its official X page, formerly known as Twitter, informing travelers that physical visa stickers and paper documents will no longer be given to visitors who require entry clearance.

Under the new system, eligible travelers will receive an eVisa, which will serve as digital evidence of their immigration status.

The eVisa will be electronically connected to the traveler’s passport.

This means that border officials will be able to confirm a visitor’s status through digital records rather than checking a visa sticker placed inside the passport.

UK authorities explained that the change is part of ongoing efforts to move the country’s immigration system fully online.

According to the government, the digital approach is expected to strengthen border control, reduce cases of fraud, and make travel processing smoother at entry points.

The United Kingdom has already introduced electronic visas for several categories of applicants in recent years.

Extending the system to all visitors who require visas marks a wider rollout of the digital arrangement.

Travelers who plan to visit the UK and require a visa are advised to open a UKVI online account ahead of their journey.

They are also encouraged to confirm that their personal details and passport information linked to the eVisa are correct before traveling to avoid issues at the border.
