Why APC Have Not Officially Welcomed Fubara Into Party.

The national leader of the All Progressives Congress said the party has not yet held a formal ceremony to receive Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara into its ranks because of long‑term planning that takes national events into account.

Governor Fubara left the Peoples Democratic Party late last year and declared that he had joined the APC, drawing attention from political watchers across the country.

Reports say his defection was part of a wider shift of state leaders to the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general election.

In a television interview, the APC chairman explained that leaders from northern states who recently moved into the party were given priority for formal reception because of the coming Muslim fasting period.

By doing this first, the party plans to finish those events before moving to other regions.

The national chairman rejected claims that the delay was caused by disagreements within the party or by the influence of powerful figures from Rivers State politics.

He said the focus of the leadership is to bring new members in at times that make sense for local communities and their traditions.

Leaders in the APC gave assurances that Governor Fubara’s official welcome will be held when activities in the northern states are concluded.

They described the approach as one that respects the varied social and religious calendar of the country as they work to integrate new members into the party.
