Youths from Kwara North, including members of the Take It Back Movement, marched to the Government House in Ilorin on Thursday to protest the rising wave of kidnappings and killings in Edu, Patigi, and other parts of the region.
The demonstrators said communities in northern Kwara are under constant threat as violence continues to disrupt daily life.
The protesters carried placards with messages calling for protection and better security.
Some of the signs noted that residents of Edu Local Government Area are living under siege, while others questioned why internally displaced persons are being moved into areas already considered unsafe.
They said communities like Woro and Gbugbu have been repeatedly attacked, with innocent people losing their lives.
Chanting solidarity songs, the youths said the protest was not politically motivated but a desperate call for urgent action.
They accused the state government of failing to provide sufficient security to rural communities, with gunshots, kidnappings, and killings reportedly happening almost every night.
The demonstrators urged the government to immediately reinforce security personnel, improve monitoring of vulnerable areas, and take decisive action against armed groups terrorising Kwara North.
They stressed that the protest was peaceful and intended to draw attention to what they described as a worsening humanitarian and security crisis.
Residents displaced by violence and those still living in affected communities were represented in the march, and the youths said they were united in demanding safety and justice for their people.
They warned that unless urgent steps are taken, more lives could be lost, and normal life would continue to be disrupted in the region.
